Whilst it has always been a source of quiet satisfaction to hear the frequently wonderful Coral playing on Radio Two, their Middle England melodicism may finally have become an Achilles Heel. "In The Morning", a song you start off loving and quickly grow to resent, is simply too damn nice. Too catchy by far. Too sodding hummable.

It's a fine pop song by most standards but its not one built to last. So transparent is its intention to fulfill the 'give us a hit single' mandate of the newly merged megalith Sony BMG, that it risks making this likeable bunch sound a little cynical.

Still, complain as you like, its impossible to stop humming the infuriatingly addictive steel drum line that's adding a splash of Caribbean colour to Mondeos across the land.
