Hmmm: are this lot really still going? For some, there was always the nagging feeling that many of those who lauded QOTSA as being the ultimate in stoner rock circa "Feelgood Hit Of The Summer" were actually afraid of rock, gratefully embracing a diluted version in the hope that the rest of that nasty music would just go away. "We've got one, thank you, nothing else required." While the rest of the world frothed and gushed, there were a few of us muttering: "Man, this is lame." "Make It Wit Chu" is so lame is sounds like Talking Heads hanging with the Red Hot Chili Peppers. It all feels like a horrible, horrible joke: the art rock guitars manage to be tinny and smug at the same time, the melody meanders with no particular form or purpose, and the vocals - delivering lines as hateful as "funk up the music, these words are made from pain" - make you want to slap the Ginger Elvis back into the '90s where he belongs. Uggh: terrible.
