Label: Island
For anyone still struggling to place Swedish sensation Robyn, trying to work out just who she reminds them of, why her minor melodies and clipped and caustic choruses are so familiar - not to mention her '80s pop-pixie wardrobe and interesting hair - fear not, the answer is here in the form of "Be Mine!"'s bitter heartache.
Coming on like a hyperactive "Time After Time" - seriously, the choruses are so close they've got to be related - but with malice and vengeance where the weepy bits used to be, it's suddenly clear that the forthright saviour of the charts is actually Cyndi Lauper with an oversized fringe.
Which is no bad thing. Like Lauper, Robyn has a distinctly unconventional perspective. To her ridiculously catchy ditties she adds a jaded lilt and a cynicism and anger not normally found in songs about love. But then "Be Mine!" is about standing in the rain, watching an unrequited love with their other-half thinking very bad thoughts indeed. Obsessive and more than a little disturbing, it's another three minute masterpiece.
