First things first - there is no Rosie Taylor in the Rosie Taylor Project. Although Rosie Taylors have begun to gather, Dave Gorman-like, around this brilliant six-piece from Leeds, if the internet is to be believed (and when isn't it?). In fact, right now, the "project", as such, appears to be playing in the front room of anyone called Rosie Taylor. So if you're a Rosie Taylor and fancy a Camera Obscura-style indie'n'western band to strum in your parlour, you know where to call.
What to expect from your personal performance? Well, "This City Draws Maps" is a gorgeous, slow-burning affair that strikes matches in the dead of night to keep itself company. "This city draws maps for lost lovers", sighs singer Jonny, as the golden jangle and mournful trumpet conjure up an atmosphere that's barbed, bruised and tender. They've already been raved about by Marc Riley, a man who knows a thing or two about suffering (we wouldn't invite Mark E Smith to our wedding either). Next step: everyone else. A new band to believe in.
