Label: RCA
Attention ladies! Do you find the following scenario sexy? Feeling lonesome and hopeful of love, looking for "someone better", you join some friends in your local nightclub. A young man approaches who calls himself your "Daddy" and he keeps trying to force alcohol down your throat, while pestering you incessantly for sex and bragging about the prodigious quantities of sperm he regularly ejaculates. When you demure, he says you're asking for it, "doing it on purpose", and threatens to give you a "dose".
No, it's not a night with Ashley Cole but the new Usher single, and what a dinosaur of a record it is both sonically and lyrically. You'd have thought Kanye West and Lupe Fiasco's critiques of hip hop machismo would have made people rethink this tired "lover man" shtick, but Usher seems blissfully unaware of what an idiot he sounds. Polow Da Don's production, meanwhile, is tepid, unimaginative stuff, heavy on gloopy synths and low on beats or hooks, and Young Jeezy's guest rap is gratingly bad. It's no "Yeah!", not even a maybe.
