If patience is a virtue, Ladytron must be well on their way to sainthood by now. Best part of a decade after first emerging - and then disappearing - from Liverpool's electro-pop scene, they return with a new sense of conviction to their seductive, synth-heavy swagger - buoyed no doubt by recent high profile US tours with both Gwen Stefani and Nine Inch Nails. And while they've been tipped for great things more times than they'd care to remember, "Ghosts" certainly suggests their patience may yet be rewarded. With a sultry stomp of industrial bass and vast swathes of keyboard ambience, which in the hands of Goldfrapp or Moby would be the first step on the way to a multi-platinum album, there's no doubting that the sound Ladytron have been thanklessly toiling away at since 1999 is finally en vogue. Add a beguiling yet unavoidable melody which strikes the critical balance between integrity and playground catchiness and it's as close to electro-pop perfection as they're ever likely to get.
