David Jordan - 'Move On'

Released on 12/05/08
Label: Mercury
These are critical days for David Jordan. The 23 year-old who has borrowed bits of Prince, bits of James Brown and a lot of the '80s, and come out sounding like a 2008 answer to Terrance Trent D'Arby - albeit first album TTD - is about to get some serious competition in the shape of fellow London soul-pop throwback Bryn Christopher. There's only room for one clean-cut London soul boy in the charts however, and with Christopher tipped as the male Amy Winehouse, Jordan needs stake his claim and quick. As a follow-up to Top 5 single "Sun Goes Down", "Move On" is a solid choice; another stylish example of Jordan's intelligent pop credentials. However, this is no time to be coy. The sooner he re-releases high-pitched, tight trousered '80s mega-hit in waiting "Place In My Heart" the better. Originally 'released' by The Sun at the end of 2007, it's the one song that could make him. Smart as "Move On" is, it's not the stuff household names are made of.
