"We're all slaves on this ship, we're all slaves on this ship, and this ship's sinking…" As the credit boom turns sour and a hangover of reality kicks in, Young Knives make the perfect house band for Titanic UK. Three unfashionable and sartorially-challenged lunks from Ashby de la Zouch, they're the antidote to anyone disturbed by our everyday celebration of idiocy (spawn of Geldof, daytime TV, Doherty) not to mention a sharpish kick in the shin.
Certainly, the 'ever-felt-you've-been-cheated' theme to "Turn Tail" would seamlessly blend with TV images of the Crewe by-election. "Where are the spoils, where are the treats? / I've been cheated and stripped of my perfect retreat", sings Henry Dartnell like a man with a possession order in his hand. His band mates pitch in with a gloriously angry tune, and there's also a hilarious video featuring a rat in a hamster ball. Brilliant band, brilliant song and the perfect playlist to David Cameron's iPod.
