MGMT are something of a rarity round these here parts - a buzz band that's actually buzzing. And what creates that buzz is an awareness of the workings of great pop music, all wrapped in an off-kilter psychedelic fuzziness that causes you to do a double-take just to make sure that yes, that really was what you've just heard.

Such was the case with MGMT's absolutely wonderful "Time To Pretend", one of the finest musical confections to have graced the airwaves in many a moon. Marrying self-aware lyrics with Flaming Lips producer Dave Fridmann was a materstroke and one that marks this duo down as having a future to watch.

"Electric Feel" may not match its predecessor for sheer thrills and a giddy sense of joy but it does at least have fun trying. This is what Scissor Sisters would sound like if they weren't so busy crawling up their own backsides in a desperate search for ideas. So, not MGMT at its best but this'll keep us going until "Kids" finally gets a single release.
