On the surface of it all, this appears to have everything those of a puerile nature could wish for: a band name that suggests something from a headbanger's wet dream as it conjures up the kind of sword'n'sorcery imagery that Wolfmother bought into with an almost indecent haste and a song title designed to soundtrack a night of passion and/or ritual sacrifice (weather permitting).
If anything, Ladyhawke are as good example as any to why Pop Will Eat Itself remains one of the greatest band names and concepts ever as the '80s are plundered once again for inspiration. That's not to suggest that "Dusk Till Dawn" is totally without merit; packed with more hooks than an angler's fishing bag, this is a decent enough pop record with its eyes firmly on the dancefloor but all too often it feels as if Survivor's "Eye Of The Tiger" is struggling to break free.
The curious are best advised to seek out The Canyon's thumpingly monstrous remix that ramps-up the song's pumping bass line into something quite irresistible.
