A strange bag of mixed fruits, this album, as was to be expected, refuses to conform to any obvious generic handles and consequently takes some getting into.~
This is always a good sign and 'Guerilla' genuinely repays repeated listening, packed as it is with great songs to be fished out of the confusion.
Gruff's tune-packed head spills out the full gamut of styles from the beautiful melodies of 'TurningTide' to the punky intensity of 'Night Vision', the latter sounding like Joy Division's 'She's Lost Control'.~
There's even some downbeat electronica in the form of 'Something's ComeFrom Nothing', a track which sounds more like the Boards Of Canada than any of the band's immediate peers.~
But then, it's not obvious exactly who SFA's immediate peers are.~
