A gloriously messy debut album arrives from the band that are generating the kind of hype that's more akin to Star Wars than a little UK indie act.
'Messy' is in this case a genuine compliment - The Beta Band somehow turn what appears as a mess on first listening into something which steadily evolves into a perfect purity with repeated spins.
Far too many influences are thrown into the melting pot to mention here - spanning Pink Floyd to Run DMC - and the outcome is a rewarding, so-called 'eclecticism'.
Recorded at speed in three different studios, the finished product reflects its improvisational construction, especially in the gloriously diverse oriental percussion sounds.
It's not all great and it's certainly not to all tastes but this is a truly original album which for many will come as a breath of fresh air.
