Frenchman Alex Gopher is a bit of an unknown quantity, not fitting in to either the post-Daft Punk 'all things French are really great' scene or the European jazz-sampling and beard stroking scene. It's a bit too jazzy for the former category with a slightly too obvious use of samples to be allowed to hang out with the later. This may work very nicely in favour of this accessible album, a point which his record company have clearly picked up on as they pump cash into the video and general promotion of first single, the Billie Holiday sampling 'The Child'.
