'You Me & Us' holds no surprises, it's an emotional collection of well-crafted pop tunes that give the pop perfectionist a rewarding listening experience. Martine as the suffering Tiffany in Eastenders had a roller coaster of a part where emotions came flooding in fast and often. Her skill is she is able to transmit such feeling to her music. The songs cover love and life and she co-wrote four : 'Falling Apart', 'You, Me & Us', 'If Only' and 'Tremble'. There are also some covers: Crystal Gayle's 'Talking In Your Sleep', Yvonne Elliman's 'Love Me' and 'Maybe This Time' from the musical Cabaret. Martine has a fine voice, smooth and easy on the ear and her producer Tony Moran, who wrote 'I've Got You', a near classic pop song, has set her vocals against a lush, orchestral backing. It's not too hard to imagine her as a torch singer: dim lights, tight dress, delighting all those male fans that miss seeing her on TV and not too hard to see that this album should do very well indeed.
