Simon and Robin Lee develop their disco-influenced sound in the direction of Afrobeat with this, their second album for nuphonic. The disco strings are still there of course and offset the African vocals and rhythms with an interesting texture. However, this album is destined to be criticized for being just too damn polite and, to some extent, deservedly so. It is all too often the case that what sounded raw and energised coming out of a very basic Nigerian studio in the 1970''s loses something in the translation to 90''s production finesse. Nonetheless, it is in the disco-tinged productions which, at their best are reminiscent of the classic 80s work of Francois Kevorkian, that things really come to life. ''Space Disco'' floats along on one of those perfect subtly shifting disco grooves, whilst the title track is just a lovely disco journey combining near classical strings with an insistent guitar lick.
