Rage Against The Machine is no stranger to controversy. The band's had a go at retailers Gap, campaigning for garment worker's rights in the video for new single 'Guerilla Radio', the guitar-frenzied second song on the album. Now they're in deep water with anti-abortion campaigning group Rock For Life which says the new album supports their view that Rage spreads ''hateful propaganda.''

Certainly Rage always went for the political message and singer Zack de la Rocha has excused the three-year delay in releasing the new album, claiming to have had trouble writing lyrics. The album's harder and 'heavier than before and stuffed with dramatic guitar licks in a punky style - guitarist Tom Morello cites the Sex Pistols as the band that made him grab the guitar and do it himself - and aggressive vocals that run riot over the disc, creating glorious audio mayhem.
