This is not for the fainthearted. If you like straightforward songs then this is not for you – it's an off-the-wall mix of beats and Beatles with a scummy edge. The opening track 'Hole In the Wall' says it all really. It kicks off for a few seconds on a mellow jazz vibe – sounds exactly like the laid back stuff you get on that jazz club sketch on The Fast Show, you expect there to be samples of 'nice' and 'great' - then it ricochets into massive sub bass and Beatles clone vocals. The next track is a peculiar take on 'She Loves You' – just one of The Ecologist's strange 'covers' - a 90s version of 60s psychedelia. Nor are the Stones, The Beach Boys, the hallucinogenic madness of Syd Barrett, even the the sound of 80s Madchester, left out. They've all been slipped into a cocktail of chemical highs that should be sipped with caution, senses preternaturally aware of its lethal kick. The drawback? It may well be considered by some as a bit too clever for its own good.
