Scooter - 'Back To The Heavyweight Jam'
(Wednesday January 19, 2000 11:48 AM )

Released on 14/02/2000
Label: Edel

This is the sixth album from German Euro dance act Scooter and it's hard'n'fast trancey techno Euro/pop. 'FasterHarderScooter' acts as the title track and lives up to its name: it's the perfect microcosm of their sound, an irritatingly catchy, insistently four-on-the-floor tune with a trancey synth and a shouted chorus refrain.

The tracks range from the obvious tranceouts such as 'Keyser Soze', 'Psycho' and 'Main Floor' to the harder end of the spectrum in 'Fuck The Millennium', an industrial monster which canes some pounding drum sounds and is destined for specialist radio play only. In between there is the odd slab of cheese exemplified by tunes like 'Kashmir'. Scooter, who are H.P. Baxxter, Rick Jordan and Axel Coon, have been huge around for Europe for the last five years because of their accessible sound and their gruelling touring schedule. While this album is not the blatant pop dance cop-out that comprises so much stuff coming out of Europe, it should still do very well for these German musicmeisters.
