Neil Sparkes is probably best known as a former member of Transglobal Underground. But he's been equally busy as a member of Temple Of Sound with Count Dubulah as well as solo recordings as Neil Sparkes And The Last Tribe. This album brings together all the things that he loves: dub, Cuban vibes, jazz, break beats and African percussion, topped off with a dash of poetry (he is of course a poet in his spare time). And a satisfying love affair it is too. The bass on songs like 'Voodoo Island' and 'Tropic Of Zero' is huge: sultry rolling dub lines that seduce and caress – courtesy of Count Dubulah. While on tracks like 'The Sun Also Rises' Sparkes shows off his skill at jaunty little Latin top lines. Top stuff.
