Nearly a year on from their impressive debut, Aquasky return with the same album in shiny new clothes. On this remix album of 'Bodyshock', Aquasky have chosen their favourite producers (including themselves - three times) to re-rub the tunes.
Whilst the oroginal album was a foray into disco, funk, hip-hop n bass, typical of its time, 'Aftershock' sticks largely to the tried and tested formula of harder-than-diamond beats and nightmare-inducing basslines. It's where the album does digress where it truly shines: K's electro take on 'Supernatural'; and Mr Scruff's lounge-core 'Manmade Symphony' stand out.
That's not to say that the Nu-skool tracks are bad; Adam Freeland's almost trancey 'Bodyshock' and Sketch's growling 'Sonix' are worth the price alone if you like that sort of thing. But that's just the problem; there are too few surprises to appeal to those who live for more than the sub-bass.
