This debut from Norwegian DJ TeeBee has many of the hallmarks of fellow producer Polar who has released uniquely pared-down, glacial drum 'n' bass of a consistently high standard on Certificate 18. TeeBee's sound is more obviously influenced by the precision future funk of Photek but rarely finds the same unexpected hooks that make his sound so exciting.
When they do hit the mark on tracks like 'Stolen Documents', 'The Claw' and 'Redwind' , TeeBee's stealthy beats have a haunting, futuristic and rather clinical vibe which is quite satisfying. But, whilst his obvious dislike of formulaic dancefloor no-brainers is admirable, TeeBee would benefit from letting it go very occasionally, if only to allow his taught sound to shine in musical contrast.
