'The Platform' is another one of those albums that we've been waiting for just too damn long. When a buzz started on the imported 12" copies of 'Work The Angles', what seems something like a couple of years ago now, things were about as hot as they have ever been for Dilated Peoples. Which is a shame because this is one of the best albums to emerge from the rejuvenated West Coast hip hop scene for some time and deserves according underground heat.
Dilated Peoples don't overdo the guest emcees and producers but do manage to bring enough creative heads to the mix to keep things interesting, particularly hot is 'Right On', featuring fellow LA dwellers Tha Alkaholiks with tight production from E-Swift. The dangerously on form Alchemist - if you checked the recent album from Encore you'll know the deal - puts together the beats on a fair share of the tracks elsewhere on the album bringing with him the neck snappin' sound of D&D Studios, home of the one-and-only DJ Premier.
If you've been checking the Dilated vinyl that's been creeping over the pond, you'll already own many of these tracks but there's enough fresh Alchemist-produced material and more here to make this well worth tracking down.
