Escoffery's debut single joins the slow burning flame that is threatening to re-ignite the rough hewn street soul sound of the UK circa 1992.
Given re-mix treatment by 2Step icon MJ Cole, the vocals gain the urban edge the needed to push them against the flow, but they could still go a bit further to gain deeper earthiness.
As easy going as this is, with satisfying bass drops and fills, the re-mixes are pretty much work a day slack paced jump up, rather than imaginsative drum arrangements. It's hard to see them doing much dance floor damage, but they are carefully soulful.
