Jon The Dentist & Ollie Jay release the first album on the Phoenix Uprising label and it's one mother of an record: hard as graphite but with full-on vocals that just dust the tunes with a little sweetness.
Jon The Dentist has been an inspiration to the hard house crew since he started DJing and slamming' out tuff tunes back in 1993. Those in the know will remember his Bosca Beats label as one of the progenitors of today's current sound. He went on from there to record for others including Tidy Trax.
Now Jon's teamed up with Ollie Jay, who's got a bit of a rep himself as a DJ, supporting The Prodigy on tour and playing alongside the likes of Sasha, Judge Jules, David Morales, Sister Bliss and Carl Cox.
On "Genetically Engineered", Jon and Ollie spike up the proceedings with splashes of gabba, rave and hardcore to give a new, through old, twist to the proceedings.
Tracks Like "Free" are very ravey while "The Pyramid" comes with a tech step mix, deep and dirty. "Feels So Good" has been given the David Holmes touch, who comes in to provide a mix that turns the tune into an atmospheric trip through space with the king at the controls.
"Genetically Engineered" is hard with a feel-good factor which can't be bad.
