The Logical Progression series has been one of Good Looking's most succesful endeavours, capturing as it does the heady blend of Conrad's vocals with the label's famed musical sound. It's with a tinge of sadness then that fans will seek what is to be the final instalment.
Presented by Conrad, the compilation at least goes out on a high note by showcasing the MC's Words 2 B Heard project in full effect for the first time.
W2BH a collective of rappers, musicians and singers have been featured on Logical Progression 3 and Earth before, but here they offer what is to all intents and purposes a full length album of their material.
The four piece band responsible for the grooves, Fuze, have created a subtle, swirling soundscape for Conrad and other guest vocalists to flow over, that moves from downtempo jazz-funk to double speed hybrids. Across ten tracks we get one or two more instrumental flavours, plus some passionate female vocals over drum & bass and Conrad delivering hip hop style rhymes (check the dope slow nod of 'Energetic Poetry') alongside his more usual d & b offerings.
It's not too far a departure from the Good Looking sound anyone who has heard Intense will know the vibe but it's the most refreshingly different release to come out of the camp for a while. As a bonus, there's a second CD filled with exclusive and classic material from the Good Looking camp, such as 'Indian Summer' by Big Bud, two new cuts from Nookie, 'In Love' from PFM, 'Fluidity' from Nu Moon and more from Future Engineers, J Laze and Intersperse and Makoto.
