If anyone can put together a scintillating selection of tunes bigging it in Ibiza this summer then it's gotta be Judge Jules. He's been spinning hot tracks on the island since 1988, so if he doesn't know what clubbers on the white isle want then nobody does.
But if anyone's expecting a simple round up of hard driving grooves, then think again. This collection reflects not the only the main room of Judgement Sunday - Jules' famed Ibiza club night where along with the man himself the residents are hard house/trance gurus Lisa Lashes and Ferry Corsten - it also visits the second room where Jules plays deep and funky.
CD1 opens on a groove with Tiefschwart's' No More Trouble' and undulates along hypnotically with bass heavy, prog house-tinged tunes like Saeed & Palash's 'Losing Control' and Kosheen's' Hide U'. There are some gems like Jan Driver's stand out mix of Afrika Bambaata's 'Funky Heroes'. CD2 is a harder affair with kick ass outings like 'Pedro Del Mar's Harder?' and Members of Mayday '10 in 01'.
Jules beefs it up with some of this summer's hits too. Party down to Warrior's 'Voodoo', Static Revenger's 'Happy People', Fergie's remix of 'Da Hool's Meet Her At The Love Parade', Musique Vs U2's 'New Year's Day', Hi-Gate's 'D-Tune' and Tall Paul vs INXS' Precious Heart'.
This comp clearly shows how summer 2001 is a far more eclectic affair than last year's big trance and hard house mash up. With tunes like Motivation's 'Para Mi' with its rollin' b-line and hardcore flavoured synth riff and the Latino feel of No-One Driving's' Playa Sol' this collection encapsulates this year's vibe down to the last G&T.
