San Francisco's Dubtribe, aka husband and wife team Sunshine Jones and Moonbeam, get their hands on London duo Bob Jones and Lofty's soulful Chilli Funk back catalogue and run it through the mix to produce a tougher, percussive, but soul packed Latino-house mix CD.
Leading in with bossa beats of Nathan Haines' D.S.L and Nate Juan 'Loca Blue', the beats collide perfectly into Ashley Beedle's dirty-funk re-mix of East West Connection's 'Rollin' Inner City Club mix, before gradually picking up the pace through Beedle's much sought after Inner Groove 1' version of the same track.
Ghetto Swing's 'Mundo Latino' returns to the Brazilian percussive themes, augmented by incidental shifting bass lines. The melody lines only return some four minutes later when EWC's Terry Callier collaboration, 'Tomorrow In Your Eyes', begins to work its soulful groove.
This is the first time the Dubtribe feature properly on the album and they mark the occasion by throwing in two mixes of 'Tomorrow In Your Eyes'. 'Never Lost Faith', by UG Heights ft. Anthony Flanagan, veers off into deep disco territory, paving the way for EWC's triple pack of the dub bass led 'Love Music (Twisted Jazz Version)', disco cubist wig out 'Cuppa Chino' and chugging Chicago beats of 'Once I've Been There'.
Working through DSL's deep conga dub on 'Soothe Your Soul' Sunshine and Moonbeam build into another long playing EWC session, this time blending four different versions of 'More I get'.
Meanwhile a second CD contains the tracks, apart from some of the re-mixes, unmixed. A bonus addition to an already value packed compilation.
