Cher we go again. Yes she's back for the umpteenth time in a career spanning nearly 40 years. Sixties pop starlet, award winning actress, cannon straddling rock babe, shes done it all. And while she may not have Madonna's cultural chameleon qualities or consistent sense of style Cher has managed to survive and out live numerous trends.
Her recent re-launch as pop dance diva and subsequent success must have been as much of a surprise to her as anyone else. The vocoder-tastic 'Believe' is the biggest selling single by a female artist in the UK ever and so she has opted to repeat the formula on this new album.
Not quite as anthemic and instant as single 'The Music's No Good Without You' proves this collection is a little more understated. Her voice is as strong and distinctive as ever but the uptempo easy listening production courtesy of the likes of Chicane and Stargate means that this one is strictly for the mums and dads. The kind of thing that induces tipsy, middle-aged, pin stripe suited executives to let loose at the office Christmas party and cringe at their behaviour the next day.
It's not so much House music, more a three-bedroom bungalow with a nice bit of garden out back and a Volvo in the drive, but definitely no garage.
