Following the textural and all-round well received release of their 'Fusion' LP in 2000, Fauna Flash return with an album of re-mixes of the original tracks.
As you'd expect from an act that bristles with quality and production detail, the list of re-mixers reads like a roll call of left field elegance and excellence.
Dzihan and Kamien provide a deep rumbling take on 'Mother Nature', Stephane Attias transforms 'Tel Aviv' into breezy deep house meets broken beat, Pole takes 'Ten' and works like a later day central European King Tubby, while Kyoto Jazz Massive turn the same track into a full on West side jazz outing.
Salvador Group shift 'Free' into a click-hop track, Dixon sends a shard of blistering house into 'Alone Again', while Attica Blues' Charlie Dark delivers a textural deep house remix of 'Tel Aviv'.
Blue Foundation's down beat outro re-working of 'Mother Nature' is a haunting finish to the album, but, as good as the tracks here are, the stand-out mixes come from G Stone affiliates Stereotyp, who adds electronic sparkle to 'Question', and man of the moment Peter Kruder, who's 'Bum Rush The Discoteque' version of Tel Aviv was one of last years defining moments.
Essential listening.
