Indian/ Western hybrid music has of course had a long presence in the UK's popular music and over the last five years the UK has produced a number of significant fusionist players.
It's an influence that touches all levels of society and continues to reach previously untouched areas.
From Friday night curry houses to the ride home in the cab, Bollywood and Asian influenced music has spread through the UK's big screens and across our pop charts. Even Andrew Lloyd Webber is joining with Bombay Dreams in March.
So naturally there's a combination of western and world influences on this saucy little number from UK imprint, Outcaste, but it follows their previous release in this series by looking at the fusion from the Asian, rather than UK, perspective.
Like Volume One, it continues to charter the history of Hindi film, the oldest track being made in 1949 by Andez while the rest span through the Twentieth Century up to present day.
It's undeniably an interesting and rich history to trawl through. But its richness can also be its undoing. It's a bit like your first encounter with the condensed flavours of Indian sweets. The first few bites are great, but it's all too easy to hit overkill.
A tasty compilation none-the-less.
