Bang on time for 'Spiderman' the movie, the real, Ex-DMC turntable champion, DJ Peter Parker (aka Dan Baxter or Mr Magic Fingers!) and his sidekick Sneaky (on hand-made electro bass) have served up a superb sophomore album.
On form with their trademark medieval Manc goes progressive hip-hop style, the whirrs of 'Drunken Master' progress to comedy car chase rhythms, as Fifties cartoon styles get thrust through the turntables by Mr Parker before culminating in an Eighties style robotic future-groove.
'Wasting Time' presents the lads in perfect chilled-jam mode while 'Piano Goon' brings the pace up with some keyless jazz chords and 'Once Upon A Time In The East' sounds vaguely 'House Of The Rising Sun'.
Full of the strings and looted and booted, organ grinding brilliance we've come to expect from Mark Rae's protéé, it treads a path forged by Red Snapper but is somewhere out there on its own. A new genre; electro-medieval, electro-mead, Manchester's new Med.
