Mystical, retro-rockers Kula Shaker return to the fray with their second album, Peasants, Pigs & Astronauts, for Columbia Records on March 8th.
The foursome fronted my Crispian Mills enlisted the production talents of the legendary Bob Ezrin (of Pink Floyd and Lou Reed fame) to work on the album, a 12-track set which continues the Eastern themes featured on their debut million-selling album K.
Featuring the additional musical input of Indian flautist Hariprasad Chaurasia and vocalist Gouri Choudry (who previously appeared on the band's Govinda single), the tracklisting for Peasants, Pigs & Astronauts reads: Great Hosannah, Mystical Machine Gun, S.O.S, Radhe Radhe, I'm Still Here, Shower Your Love, 108 Battles, Sound Of Drums, Timeworm, Last Farewell, Golden Avatar, Mamami Manda-Mandana.
On first listen, the Pink Floyd textures are there in abundance, with more sophisticated and complex arrangements also in evidence. Fans should love it.
To tie in with the release, the band are playing a four night residency at London's 100 Club from March 2nd to 5th. They are renaming the venue the 108 Club after the 108 Battles track on the album.
A new single, Mystical Machine Gun, is out on February 22nd.
