The Chemicals have been publicised as the headline DJ act tonight, and could easily fill out the main arena, but that vast space is reserved for purveyors of Gatecrasher's most famous trancey melodic sound.
Here in the 'Chemical Generation' arena, things are programmed to be a little more challenging, but no less popular.
This is to be the Chems only festival appearance this summer and as they take to the stage the arena is bursting with clubbers, all drawn by the special prospect of hearing the mighty duo dropping some of their block rockin' beats upon the English countryside.
Things start off promisingly enough, with plenty of tough techy house and carefully selected non-cheesy breakdowns to keep the atmosphere boiling away nicely. But about 45 minutes in to the set, the soundsystem seems to be letting the side down.
Either the bass amps have blown or the boys are taking a very long time to tease us with an endless build-up that seems to be going nowhere.
Whatever the reason, the crowd around the outer reaches of the tent are no longer under their spell, and start to drift away as visibly as they had arrived before. Things must be sounding better right up the front, as it certainly remains too packed to attempt a trip to find out.
The prospect of hearing material from their forthcoming album still holds us, pushing forward as far as we can.
Their set is obviously brilliantly well programmed, the visual spectacle no less impressive, but it's disappointing not to be engulfed by the music, particularly when Tom and Ed can so obviously satisfy a crowd of many thousands more.
