As an advert for a certain stout says: Good things come to those who wait.
Being a confirmed lager drinker, I couldn't possibly comment. But with respect to Faithless it's true.
The original concert, due to be played in December, was postponed after Maxi Jazz broke his pelvis in a car accident.
Naturally the long wait has added to the excitement and anticipation here tonight.
With this much pressure it would be easy to disappoint, but when Faithless arrive they're characteristically confident and flamboyant.
They open with 'Donny X', the opening track from 'Outrospective', driving the kick drum and bass line into your core.
If Maxi Jazz is still suffering from the aftermath of his broken pelvis it doesn't show. He's as charismatic as ever on stage and doesn't hold back on any of his trademark dance moves.
Other highlights of the set include the poignant 'Crazy English Summer' embossed with the exceptional voice of Zoe Johnston.
Despite being one of the older songs in tonight's set, 'Salva Mea' remains as awesome as ever, while the anthemic 'We Come 1', leaves the by-now over-excited audience dizzy for more.
The last of the encores and a suitable finale is the classic 'God is a DJ'. Maxi Jazz, silhouetted in front of a screen of smoke and white light, takes on an alien likeness, his ears protruding Dr Spock-stylee, and The Academy is transported to another planet in an overwhelming celestial climax.
Faithless live captures the best of their three outstanding albums - and then adds some. This is performance at its powerful best. Not many acts, let alone dance acts, can achieve such power and presence.
