Stereo MCs - ''Arabesque: A MOMO compilation''
(Tuesday April 6, 1999 4:58 PM
)
Released on 06/04/1999
Label: Gut Records
An unusual offering which is stirring-up attention from all the right places, Arabesque is the brainchild of Mourad Mazouz, owner of London's hyper-fashionable MOMO restaurant. Mourad, together with Francis Peyrat, DJ at the restaurant's Kemia Bar, have compiled a collection of Arabic music led by a strong line-up of contemporary producers such as the Stereo MCs and Tranquility Bass. The stand-out amongst the electronic offerings is Hefner's powerful reworking of Omar Faruk Tabilek's Shashkin.
