After the huge worldwide success of number two hit Lovefool and the attendant focus on The Cardigans, it would have been hard to divine what direction the poppy Swedish outfit would go.

My Favourite Game initially comes as a bit of a shock – strong indie guitars and a simple monosyllablic chorus that’s gripping, but it’s the interplay between the roughness of the song’s sound and the crystal-clear, breathy vocals of Nina Persson that really appeals.

Currently on the Radio One B-list, it should not be very long before ILR clicks to it. It is a great development and a surprising, yet confident return from a band that seemed to scream 'one hit wonder.'
