DJ Krust - 'Coded Language'
(Friday October 1, 1999 1:30 PM
)
Released on 08/11/1999
Label: Talking Loud
Krust takes time off from the Reprazent project to come up trumps on ''Coded Language'', one of the finest drum&bass tunes this talented man has yet come up with. It''s a deliciously haunting and spooky groove that has a magic rolling riff running through that takes you on a stella trip. Slam star Saul Williams provides a spot-on strong ''n'' ruff rap narrative that provides a delicious counterpart to the instrumentation. Roni Size comes up with a deliciously dark remix that boasts one of his famous gritty buzzy basslines which takes the track to a further dimension. Beautifully simple, yet oh-so-effective, this mix cries out to be cranked right up, down in a cellar bar, where the low frequency soundwaves will bounce off the walls and blow people away. Last track on the CD is ''Excuses'', a narrative rant deftly set over yet another chilling background. Anyone looking for some brilliant soundtrack tunes should take note.
