Label: London
There's been a lot of hype around this breaks & beats duo for the last year or so but they never really seem to quite deliver the goods and this new single is no exception. They are obviously clever dudes: there's a plethora of ideas, nifty production and thought gone behind this double A side single, but it's let down by not having a proper focal point. 'All Day' doesn't have a great vocal hook nor a memorable, singable riff. Instead there's lots of bits – bits of whistles, bits of brass, bits of funky guitar, bits of vocal samples, bits of percussion even ethnic bits. The track stops and starts so much it makes Fatboy Slim's productions look like a continuous trance riff. It simply has no heart. 'Money or Belief' is an improvement It's more of a roller and trundles along with heavy percussion and stronger keyboard riffs, vocals and guitar lines, but ultimately it too fails to deliver.
