Since being founded in 1996, the Ultimate Dilemma label has shifted from its roots as an underground dance stable releasing quality singles to a label nurturing long-term album talent. This debut commercial release from Tim Hutton is not necessarily what you might expect from the man behind nuphonic's Soul Ascendants. 'Wisdom & Pain' combines sustained strings, lyrical piano and crunching programmed beats, reminiscent of UNKLE. A distinctly 90s take on dance music, this is a lengthy and resolutely unfunky 'song'. A quietly affecting melody and intelligent production ensure that it rises above the pack.
