The accessible one from this year's 'Programmed' album. A damn fine tune too, covering The Stylistics 1971 hit, Carl Craig recreates the track in a manner befitting of a contemporary Gil Scott-Heron whilst retaining the strings. This single release includes a Carl Craig remix and, quite exciting this, a Kenny Dixon Jr (aka. Moodyman) remix. Those familiar with Moodyman will know that he, like Craig, is a bit of a Detroit original. At his best, he finds a perfect meeting ground for the electronic innovation synonymous with Motor City and the sounds of disco, philly, salsoul and soul. Of late, his productions have been pretty chilled and this remix is no exception – strictly nine minutes of laid-back 90s soul jazz. If we're talking 'song', however, the album original version still rules.
