1999 has been a good year for Debbie Harry and Blondie - they surged to their first UK number one since 1980 with 'Maria' and followed it up with tours and TV specials. Now the clubs on millennium night beckon and EMI has commissioned a remixed version of the 1989 hit 'I Want That Man'. To take advantage of the millennium, the remixed single has been retitled 'Here Comes The 21st Century' from Harry's lines in the song. D-Bop and The Almighty, the latter fresh from their Petshop Boys 'New York City Boy' remix success, have each done a sterling job reworking the track and David Holmes has done his usual top job recreating the guitar sound. Both teams have produced the sort of humungous trancey anthems, complete with samples of stadium-sized crowd cheering, that are going to be de rigueur this New Year's Eve. DJ's are already giving the tune the big thumbs up so expect to hear it a lot this winter.
