Whilst elsewhere in the dance scene there seems to be little respite from the stream of formulaic cut 'n' paste disco and funk we're now very over-familiar with, this comes as something of a surprise. The sample-heavy construction is all there but the complexity of the production and the way in which the familiar funk samples are utilised is altogether more rewarding. 'Zulu', in particular, stands out. Tight as James Brown's rhythm section, and funky as John Shaft's wardrobe. This is sure to rock the spot. Three solid tracks make this EP well worth looking out for.
