While their seriously good album settles in, Les Gammas have wasted no time in giving it a boost by releasing this selection of re-mixes of 'Guauanco' – a track which doesn't feature on their long player. Riding in like a calypso boat party, the Kyoto Jazz Massive mix delves into the sub bass and squeezes out the nu-skool jazz, only fixing the beat with key board stabs. Stuffed with musical jokes there's enough here to get the chin-strokers moving – which in itself is an achievement. But to make certain the track finally succumbs to four four beats just before its demise. On the flip side Cinematic Orchestra use vocal chants to turn the track into a hauntingly beautiful film score while the most funked-up and fucked-up offering comes from Planet E's Recloose. This bristles with leftfield dance floor application – making use of the b-line it takes its excuse to screw with the beats and execute key changes. Meandering like Roy Ayers on angel dust, it knuckles down into some serious foot action rhythmic grooves.
