If you've read anything about QOTSA but haven't heard them yet, you'll be expecting great things from one of several heavily touted "future of rock and roll" contenders.
What you get, sadly, is a half-arsed attempt by the Blink 182 generation to sound like Nirvana circa 'Blew', all given some dubious notion of "edge" and "attitude" by dint of a lyric comprised solely of the names of class A substances.
'Ecstacy! Marajuana! C-c-c-c-co, Caine!' they splutter: like, radical, man. 'Feel Good Hit Of The Summer' is just awful, an empty vessel bereft of a clue, and as revolutionary as cup of tea to boot.
'Never Say Never', included to give radio programmers an option, is leaner and a little tighter, but sounds far too much like a tuneless rereading of The Knack's 'My Sharona' for comfort.
A resolutely pointless release, all told.
