The Oxford drum & bass dons Total Science have been going from strength to strength over the last few months, presenting us with track after track of wicked and totally different styles. This EP, released on their own label, is another dizzyingly fine example of what they can do.
'Make Me Feel' is an upgraded hard core vibe with cut up vocal, busted beatwork and renegade snares. Next they hand over their 'Nine Numbers' cut to Phantom Audio, who rework it into a subtle, dubbed out affair.
'After Dark' comes on strong again with some ruff beatwork, rave sounds and slowed down vocal snippet, and then 'Hot Tub' (a downtempo jazz funk groove) and the dark but atmospheric 'Detox' wind down this EP up perfectly. Once again, it's on.
