Dutch DJ/producer DJ Jurgen comes stomping into the new year with this trancey pop tune that owes quite a lot to his smash hit "You're Better Off Alone" which got to number 2 in September 1999 and picked up a platinum award.
"Higher & Higher" features the vocals of Karen Shenaz, who turns in a credible performance, and has already charted in Holland and Germany.
The main mix, the extended vocal mix, has got all the elements you expect of the current trance scene: clear vocals from Karen with some occasional production tweaks, a bouncy beat and general cheeriness which make it more commercial but less exciting than the other mixes.
The other mixes come courtesy of Magica, Klubbheads and Dutchforce. They are more on the club tip and there's plenty of dancing material in there. Klubbheads offer up a harder, banging mix that starts in fairly stripped down fashion, then builds and build, only to drop down again.
DJ Jurgenwhip up a really anthemic mix with massive breakdowns that are guaranteed to send a shiver down the spine of any dancers out there.
