Wheatus - ''Teenage Dirtbag''

Released on 05/02/2001
Label: Columbia
Inoffensive slice of singalong, metal-edged power pop from the Long Island New York quartet, as featured on the soundtrack to Loser, the recent US teen comedy by Amy (Clueless) Heckerling. Just like with the chorus to Beck's 'Loser' after one listen you're singing along to the immortal lines "I'm just a teenage dirtbag baby, I'm just a teenage dirtbag baby, listen to Iron Maiden baby with me" By covering the typical teenage agony of loving someone who doesn't even know you exist, Wheatus are bound to strike a chord with many pop kids out there. And this breezy little ditty has a happy ending too - she asks him to go to see Iron Maiden with her. Aaah, what more can you ask for in a sunny pop song?
