Well, this isn't your run-of-the-mill, middle-of-the-road kind of tune and in fact it's also a lot further over than just simply "left of centre". "La Isla Piscola" is the second single to be let loose from Vogel's pioneering debut album "Rescate 137".
His main inspiration for the track was a recent trip to South America, his native homeland. After his introduction to the sunshine, Chile born Christian went on to spend most of his formative years in the West Midlands which maybe goes somewhere towards explaining the lunacy and affectedness of this track. Them West Midlanders can't half take a funny slant on things (speaking as someone who has also spent many years in the place).
The original track is a jumbling of beats, bleeps, rumbles, childlike Brazilian style vocals and angelic choruses. Remixes are supplied by the man himself - Christian, Cologne's Beige (The Leaf Label), and the aptly chosen, equally adventurous Matt Herbert.
Although, both guest re-mixers don't stray too far from the original they do add their own recognisable touches. Herbert levels out the clashing beats, adding a pleasant and inviting keyboard riff making the tune a probable player for more experimental dancefloors. Beige, on the other hand, funk things up, launching straight into some full on funk guitar but also keeping in with the Christian Vogel spirit of things by adding intermittent beat clashes, 808's and lots of strange squelching noises. One for open-minded ears only.
