Think of what musical concoction might arise if you cross influences from Birmingham, Louisiana, Wales, Nottingham and Berlin.
Probably impossible to imagine but whatever you conjure up it's bound to be absolutely nothing like this.
The splendidly dubbed out "Moving Together" is the second release from Birmingham based label Leftfoot Recordings (offshoot of old hands Different Drummer) and it's a bit of a corker.
Record producers Flo Fleischman and Axel Hirn from Berlin made the inspired choice to include the more than special vocal talents of Louisiana's Wayne Martin on the track. And it is his deep lover-man tones that really make this song shine.
The ep offers the original alongside a radio edit by G Corp's Joe Stevens and the leading A side mix by Frankie Valley (not, I hasten to add, the Frankie Valley of Grease' "Beauty School dropout" fame).
It's the latter A side that steals the show with a smoother than smooth groove not unlike the feel of Aaron Neville's "Hercules". Wayne's crooning voice, similar to a pitched down Gill Scott-Heron, conjures up a background scene of buzzing Harlem streets - a far shot from the reality of his Berlin home.
