New Aluminists - 'Down The Discotechque'
(Wednesday July 18, 2001 5:10 PM
)
Released on 16/07/2001
Label: Siesta
Scottish newcomers Jimmy Stewart and Glenn McCarthy have created quite the hybrid three-tracker for uber-cool label, Siesta (original home to Halo Varga's 'Future'). 'Down These Rhodes' takes a trickling, light Rhodes refrain and marries this with galvanised beats and a fat sub-bass that will staple your feet to the floor and rearrange your internal organs. Add a parping horn here, clattering timbales there and a whole lot of attitude and you've got the measure of it. Next up, 'Bass Huggin' is one for the bass-bin huggers amongst us. Nuff said. And on the flip, 'Digital Drums' pounds away at your senses, loading the beats with semtex and giving us the taste for Azymuth's 'Jazz Carnival' into the bargain. For those of you prepared to rock: this is for you.
